A legendary turn-based roguelike with dozens of species and backgrounds, gods to worship and a deep, fair dungeon to conquer. Every death teaches you something new.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is developed by the DCSS development team and is based on Linley's Dungeon Crawl by Linley Henzell. It is a classic turn-based roguelike: choose from dozens of species and backgrounds, descend into a procedurally generated dungeon, find gear and spells, worship one of many gods, and try to bring the Orb of Zot back to the surface. The design deliberately avoids grinding and tedious item juggling, so every decision matters and deaths usually teach you something. It is tough, but fair, and has a long-running and friendly community. The code is GPL-2.0-or-later and most tiles are CC0.
