Skyblivion: the volunteers rebuilding an RPG they love
The TESRenewal community shows how players become world builders—and why a remake is more than a graphics upgrade.

Players become creators
Skyblivion is a volunteer project from the TESRenewal modding group, rebuilding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion inside Skyrim: Special Edition. Its team is recreating Cyrodiil, quests, characters and locations, with redesigned spaces rather than a simple texture swap. The official FAQ currently lists a 2026 release aim without a specific public quarter; an aim is not a confirmed launch date.
Free mod does not mean no requirements
The team says the mod itself will be free, but players need the specified editions of Skyrim and Oblivion. That distinction matters: a free download can still depend on a paid base game. Always check the project's current installation guidance rather than assuming every copy is compatible.
The Oasis take
The inspiring part is the people behind the project: artists, coders and enthusiasts coordinating around a shared world. For a smaller mod team, a practical starting point is one polished quest or location with clear credits and dependencies. Document what your mod changes, show actual gameplay and explain what players must install. Community ambition earns trust when it comes with careful communication. This is independent editorial coverage, not an Oasis-hosted release or partnership.
